The Tigullio Ocean Racing Challenge begins

A new challenge is setting out across the Gulf of Tigullio. On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October 2023, Sestri Levante’s Bay of Fables hosts the first Tigullio Ocean Racing Challenge, a national FICK race organised by Shock Wave Sports A.S.D.

The programme takes crews onto the water in surfskis, sit-on-top kayaks designed for long distances and for harnessing wind and waves. The fifteen-kilometre course runs through open water, starting and finishing in the heart of Sestri Levante.

The event welcomes youth, Senior and Master categories in single and double craft. Technical stands and activities for spectators on the beach complete a weekend designed to introduce Ocean Racing and its direct connection with the coast.

An event shaped by the sea

The event is supported by the Sestri Levante branch of the Italian Naval League and the Municipality. Safety and racing quality lead the organisation: the schedule can adapt to the sea and weather conditions to give athletes the best possible course.
